The Madness - W7 _ where to find it.

Funny, but the more I try to step back, the more Toughbook seem to follow me. We've been more about security and tools in the orphanages lately, but now I cant escape it at home.

Yes, over a year ago a local college PD asked me to find them some used laptops, and I hooked them up with a source for 10 surplus cf-30's for their officers for free; knowing they had their own IT department and I would be off the hook. Well they got them, turned them over to their techies, and now, I'm getting them back to try and get the touchscreens working. Yes, you guessed it, they are Mark 1s, and the recent post here is going to help me a lot.

Then I gave my only cf-19 to a small town deputy across the border, as it was fast enough to work and small enough to fit in his issue dodge charger, but he cant use it until I'm able to put win7Pro in it for him. So its back to me to update it.

And I have to update our team's cf-30's from winxp, and they want those updated before we go again.

So back to the lab.

Anyone know a good source for Win7 pro, no one here in town sells it, and online Ive only seen it for about $139. a copy.

Well if the CF-19 is a MK1 it does not like W7 very much. It did work good but I could not get the front buttons to work at all, others have had the same problem too. The CF-30 works great after you upgrade the BIOS...so the touch screen will work.

The first link referenced above for Windows 7 Pro is a Great Price ($80) which is huge compared to what others on this forum have quoted me that they are paying. The second link works out to almost the same price with the exchange rate, and would be appropriate for those on the other side of the pond. Thanks for the Links!
