Bios Hour meters on TBs Question

#1 Post by nmbushek »

All,

Good evening.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I know it is a silly question.....

If a TB is put to "sleep" or "hibernate", within Windoez, does the bios's hour meter continue to count?

Thank you all for your time.

Have a great evening and a good week.

Respectfully,

Nick

Hey Nick,
No silly questions if you do not know. Yes, the BIOS hr meter continues to tick as long as the unit has been booted to at least into the BIOS. If you do a battery calibration by pressing Fn+F9 at the blue boot screen, the clock still ticks and the meter goes higher. When the unit is shut off is when the meter does not tick higher.

mklym & sadlmkr,

Thank you both for your quick replies gentlemen, it is very much appreciated.

With your replies, and after thinking about it.....

I'm guessing that the hour meter reading is based on the bios not the OS. So the number of hours on a tb are based on how long the bios at a minimum has been powered on.

Thanks again for your time and assistance.

Have a great evening and upcoming week.

I think the BIOS hours increment by 10's. Right now my CF-53 (Mk1) says 990 hours.

In Sleep mode (blinking power light) the hours keep incrementing, but I believe in Hibernation mode the hours don't change.

This INCORRECT!!! At least on the CF-30 MK1, CF-19 MK4 and CF-31 MK1!!!!! I've left it sleeping for DAYS with no hours going up!!!

Thanks!

Well, that is not what I was led to believe, thought I had observed, so I fired up a CF-31MK1, a CF-30 MK1 and a CF-19MK3 and have had them sleeping since yesterday morning. I will be waking them up in about an hour and will post my findings. I wanted to know definitely.

Back later with results. :)

I checked again last night and yes it is 10 hours. I think what happened to me was I let it go for a little over 10 hours and it was ready to change then so when I checked it , it showed 20 hours.
