Recomend replacement Panny for me, please

#1 Post by interestingfellow »

I love my 29, but it's big/heavy and older tech.
I had a Nextbook Flexx 10.1 with a quadcore baytrail that I used in the car with a modified windshield mount, and that was awesome. Except win10 has licensing issues with Streets and Trips, there is no fix, the issue is slipstreamed into protected recovery image, and there is no way to access bios/boot usb without using the "approved" win10 applet. I wanted to load win7, but the Flexx doesn't support legacy bios and win7 doesn't support uefi

I really liked that the flexx was so light. I would remove the keyboard, and it was comparable to a galaxy tab or ipad. Big enough to see, small enough to handle on economy airplane seats or hang off a suction cup mount in a car.

I was curious you all could recommend a replacement. Obviously a 30, 31, or 19 would do what I want, but I would prefer it to be lighter, like a tablet. The most power hungry software I would run would be autocad 2000, but I"m might be interested in learning something newer like Solidworks or similar, and of course Streets and Trips, ffox, and Office XP. Don't judge.

New or used
<$250
Panny (or other?)
tablet or convertible laptop
10.1 ish screen
touch screen (resistive or capacitive)
I3 or later, or baytrail quadcore
uefi or not, but does support legacy bios
I can use a usb gps, but like internal more and am not afraid to hack it in.

I want to run win7 possibly dual boot Mint, and i want to use a windshield mount for gps

Thanks, y'all!

I just jumped from the Mk3 19 to a Mk5. They are very, very good. Your regular ones have intel wireless, mine is a military one. Air combat command they have popped up on ebay alot too. They have atheros wireless, but the screws are glued good. Just about all of them should have a Windows 7 COA as well.

I have a 19 mk2 and it *is quite awesome. But heavy.

I have a feeling there is a 30 or 31 in my near future.

Thanks, y'all!

Stay good and everything!

Make the jump to a 31. You will not regret it.

With that blue Locktite type stuff?
That is really tough to clean off. I redid a couple CF31 that had that on the screws. Took several hours to remove it all.

The key to removing those is to use the CORRECT sized bit (0 or 1 in 99.999% of cases), use a GOOD tip like a Wiha or Xilite and use a torch to heat the tip up for 10 seconds before removing each screw.

Comes out like butter once you heat it! :)

I am not talking about the normal Locktite on the threads.
I am talking about ex Air Force or Navy units that have had Locktite poured in on top of the screw heads. This has been done after everything is tightened up and on every screw. I have seen it 1/8" thick. So thick you can not even tell there is a screw in the hole.

Vent 101: aka <250 my a$$.

1. I am tired of giving these $hitter$ away.
2. Get a real keyboard and start hitting the gym. IOW CF-30MK3 or CF-31MK2 or 3. They weigh 9.5 pounds. As in a sack of taters.
3. Yes, I have a CF-19 MK2 that I have touched, yes I would take $250 shipped......thing is people expect lifetime warranty.
4. I'm already into this for 3/4 hour @ $50/hour and just about done.

So I.F please no offense....you hit me at an honest time...............I'm just tired of being nice.

Jeff
