For those of you running EnGenius wifi cards

#1 Post by nine »

I've put the EnGenus 8602+S cards in both my CF-18 and CF-29, and I've been looking around for some more up-to-date drivers, as the ones provided by EnGenius are very old, and have some known security issues. While I was at it, I also wanted to find a driver that would allow me to actually control the power level of the card. After a bunch of searching, and going through several installs/uninstalls, I finally found a driver + Atheros Client Utility that does what I want:

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/downl ... d=05010500

you need to use the ACU utility to be able to control the power level, and the power levels displayed are offset by 9dB from what you actually get (this is apparently fairly normal with high power cards. Most of the drivers will limit the power output from the card, so the hardware lies to the driver about the actual power level) besides that, everything seems to work just fine

thanks Samsung,
