Keyboard bindings and Linux on CF-H1
So I plugged the CF-H1 up to charge in its dock. I pulled out my trusty External Samsung DVD drive and plugged it in. It has never failed to boot a computer, until now. I tried several different OS's, it wasn't the OS. Then I tried Knoppix on a usb I keep for just such problems. It booted right up. ...

Re: laptop-mode-tools pkg
M$ holds my contempt, that should be obvious, It was not just the latest crap. But Intel doesn't bother me. But I got really off topic, sorry. So back on topic, the Atom processor may respond really well to powertop. I dont know which will work better, it or the other package. I have alway setup lap...

Re: laptop-mode-tools pkg
Karl, You didn't know my feelings about M$ so don't take this personally. One note is ok except like all M$ products, I don't use them (unless I cant avoid it, ie job). As they push, I mean PUSH WINDOWS 10, more and more I refuse to use them. I live in the country and have a satellite for Internet. ...

Re: emperor linux..
Yes I have run Fedora on TB's. Pre 18 Fedora can be grumpy to install. I have run multiple Debian based, Fedora17-21, #!, and I even got Android to run on a 29, full install on a freshly wiped hdd. The install is the difficult part. Most work after that. Except Slackware, never did get that installe...

laptop-mode-tools pkg
As I wait for my next CF-H1 (just purchased off e-bait) to come in I was checking on tablet specific linux stuff. I ran across the laptop-mode-tools package. It allows better control of functions related to battery life, like spinning down the hdd longer, lcd screen control, etc. I normally control ...

Re: End the microsoft addiction in 12 steps
Maybe it was this post, maybe I just had enough.
I just wiped/reset my 2 Windows laptops and put them up for sale. (Asus and Dell)
So if they sell I can get an ssd for my CF-H1! No Windows in my collection and
another Toughbook comes to life, win-win!

Re: End the microsoft addiction in 12 steps
Every "Get Windows 10!" makes my Linux preference stronger. Every time I have to stop Windows upgrading my wifes computer WITHOUT her permission, makes my Linux preference stronger. They "upgraded" a friends computer to 10 completely surprising him, pissing him off, and guess wha...

Re: Garmin OS
OK, sorry to be out of touch for so long. Sorry for being late to the party, I am trying to catch up on the forum.... ARM architecture is different than Intel chips. Like the assembly code 0xa162f98cc might be self destruct on ARM and be a "jump and link" command on Intel. Low level code i...
