Re: Debian 12 (Bookworm) has been released.

I am wondering if anyone has tried to install Linux along side W11. I have seen this on the MX forum: You can't dual boot MX with an OEM install of Windows 11. Win 11 will only boot and run with Secure Boot and BitLocker enabled. On the other hand, you cannot install MX on a Bitlocker encrypted disk...

Re: So... who's gonna start a thread about FZ-55?

I believe it means the unit has a Win11 key in the cmos, but the unit was downgraded to Win10. If you install Win11 on the unit, the OS will be automatically registered as a genuine, due to the key in the cmos. Panasonic does that because not everyone wants/needs the latest from Richmond so they pro...

The program is Autodesk Naviworks Manager. Here is the link: https://www.autodesk.com/products/navisworks/overview?term=1-YEAR&tab=subscription&plc=NAVMAN The lead hands (foremen) have Microsoft Surface tablets, that is why I asked if they might be an option. The lead hands run the 3D viewer...

Re: The Toughbook FZ-40 is here!!

I am back working as a pipefitter. I need to run Autodesk NaviWorks program and I think my 31Mk3 will be lacking in the hardware dept. I can not find a Linux alternative to NaviWorks so I am looking at an upgrade to my laptops. Is the new FZ-40 a good choice or would a tablet be better? PM me with q...

Re: Hurricane Ian, SHTF, and internet... Tethered VS Cellular

Last I heard Springfield was in Florida, but that was years ago. Don't know if he is still there or if he moved.

Maybe Rob can use his razoo comm setup to get a hold of him and see if his is okay.

Re: Hurricane Ian, SHTF, and internet... Tethered VS Cellular

I use a Debian based distro called MX Linux and am using MX21.2 64bit. You can find it here: https://mxlinux.org/ It may not be the flashiest, but it is stable and they have a great group of devs. There are a few desktop managers you can choose from. It sounds like getting another sim for the CF-31 ...

Re: Hurricane Ian, SHTF, and internet... Tethered VS Cellular

You will get better results with the built-in card than tethered to your smartphone. I have a CF-31 Mk3 with a Sierra MC7700 that came from the factory with it. I don't use it much, but when I do use it, the result is like a home conn from a few yrs back. I have had better results with the Aircard t...

Re: Windows 11 on CF-31 MK4

When I did a search for the term "ACPI\VEN_MAT&DEV_0028" I got this link at the top of the page and then a bunch of links to 'driver finders'. Maybe this will shed some light on the issue.
