Aye.....that is how you spell Nout. and isn't 'aboot' how Canadians say 'about'? i think you may be correct. My Ball and Chain (wife) tends to put computers on mute when she uses them. but cant say i remember it being muted. ill break the screwdrivers out over the next few days and test the speaker ...

tryed them all,no luck!
sound still comes from speaker jack, but no speaker.
i installed beep, and nout happens at speaker.

im stumped now, is there a programme to test the voltage going to the speaker?
i know its unlikely but it could be the hardwear.
any other ideas?

cant wait to get home now and give it a whirl!
