Are the fans turning or making any noise? any hard drive or media in the disk drive? have to tried removing all the ram and rebooting to see if it give beeps for ram error code? Also there is no generic code for the bios.

Any GPS program should work. IF you want to use more than one at once you will need software for that as the access point of GPS data can only give that data to one program at a time. From what I have heard there isn't much performance difference between the 7 and the 8. I had a Mk6 19 here about about two years ago I had to do that on. 7 first then upgrade. Also had to do a alienware R4 aurora for my son like that. All are from around the same time frame computer wise.

There is lots of little tricks to toughbooks. That was a trick needed to boot up some older models from the single core days. Also some of the older ones were really picky about what brand ram you used.

One thing to try is set bios to default. Save then reboot. I know it has worked with a few other toughbooks that was having booting issues. Another trick was to boot a few times with no drive in it at all then boot have the drive you wanted installed.
